Chris Miller Teases His And Phil Lord's SPIDER-MAN And STAR WARS Movies

Chris Miller and Phil Lord might just be the busiest men in Hollywood. They've been linked to everything from a Men in Black/Jump Street crossover to Ghostbusters and The Flash in recent months, and while their status is clearer with some of those projects than it is on others, we do know that they're writing an animated Spider-Man movie for Sony and that The LEGO Movie helmers will direct a Star Wars movie focusing on Han Solo. Talking to IGN, Miller was asked about what the duo will bring to a Galaxy Far, Far Away. "We always try and find something that's gonna make us... give a fire to our bellies and do a really good job. And this feels like there’s a lot of pressure to not screw this up. So we’ve definitely got that motivation and then the rest of it is about trying to give audiences a fresh experience that doesn’t feel like you're just trying to check off some checklist of beats that you’re expecting and make something that feels new and exciting for people, but at the same time honoring what was so great about that character."

As for what appeals to them about the character of Han Solo, he added: "I could talk to you for a day about why he is the perfect blend of rogue-ish cowboy... Morally ambiguous, but has a clear moral compass. He’s funny, he’s off the cuff… When I was a kid on the playground, fights were about who got to play Han Solo. He’s just one of the best characters ever created." Now, that Spider-Man movie is something of a mystery. It doesn't appear as if Marvel will have any sort of involvement with it and we don't know at this point if it's going to even focus on Peter Parker. Could fan-favourite Miles Morales be about to make his big screen debut? "I can’t really talk too much about that project. Much like the Han Solo, it is shrouded in secrecy, so I can’t really talk about it. But I will say, it is not just another Peter Parker origin story that you’ve seen 400 times. It is something totally unique and different and not like anything you’ve seen. That’s all I can say… and you’re going to love it!" What do you guys hope they'll focus on in this animated movie?
