Game Of Thrones fans will be exited to hear that Maisie Williams will appear in the currently shooting ninth season of Doctor Who, which will also see Peter Capaldi return as the Doctor and Jenna Coleman as Clara. No word on exactly who Williams will be playing, but it's been speculated that she may be in line to replace Coleman as the new companion.

“I'm so excited to be working on Doctor Who as it’s such a big and important part of British Culture," said Williams in a statement. "I can’t wait to meet the cast and crew and start filming, especially as we’ll be shooting not too far from my home town." Showrunner Steven Moffat added: “We’re thrilled to have Maisie Williams joining us on Doctor Who. It’s not possible to say too much about who or what she’s playing, but she is going to challenge the Doctor in very unexpected ways. This time he might just be out of his depth, and we know Maisie is going to give him exactly the right sort of hell.” This makes it sound like she might have an antagonistic role, but that remains to be seen. It's also been announced that Jamie Mathieson (Flatline, Mummy On The Orient Express) will return to write an episode called "The Girl Who Died", and Torchwood's Catherine Tregenna has penned "The Woman Who Lived."
