There is one aspect of the new Star Wars: The Force Awakens trailer that has caused a good number of fans to voice their concerns. At the end of the trailer, a cloaked figure is seen stumbling through a snow-filled forest, and then this figure, most likely a Sith, turns on his lightsaber. The new lightsaber emits a beam, or beams, from the hilt of the weapon. It seems like an extremely dangerous design as one wrong move could actually slice into the emitter and not their foe. On last night's episode of The Colber Report, super-nerd Stephen Colbert explained how and why the crossguard (or cross-hilt) lightsaber design could actually work.
Star Wars: Episode VII - Actors John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Domhnall Gleeson, Max von Sydow, Lupita Nyong'o and Gwendoline Christie will join the original stars of the saga, Harrison Ford, Carrie Fisher, Mark Hamill, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, and Kenny Baker in the new film. It's being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and Abrams. Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer. The movie opens worldwide on December 18, 2015.
