Michael Bay's Transformers: Age of Extinction grossed over a billion dollars at the worldwide box office this year. Its closest competitior, Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy , trails the current champ by as much as $300 million. Bay has received a lot of credit for the film's box office success, but I would argue that the 400 artists at Industrial Light & Magic (ILM) did most of the heavy lifting.
