A quote pulled from The Guardian's lengthy profile of Interstellar director Christopher Nolan caused quite a stir here on CBM last night. The report claimed that after Warner Bros. suggested that he and Zack Snyder tag an after-credits scene, or "comedy quota ending", onto Man Of Steel, Nolan shot it down with the rather snobbish "a real movie wouldn't do that" line. This obviously didn't sit well with Marvel fans, as the post-credits stinger has become a staple of the studio's projects, either as a way of connecting each film with the wider MCU, or simply as a bit of light-hearted relief once the credits have rolled. Many felt that the dig was an unnecessary one, but now Nolan has clarified his comments to Buzzfeed. “I would never say someone else’s film isn’t ‘a real film,’” the Dark Knight director said in a statement to the site. “The quote is inaccurate.” Whether he said this, something similar, or nothing of the sort, one thing is for sure -- Marvel and DC fans will find something else to latch on to to keep this endless debate raging, and make no mistake...the studios couldn't be happier.
