BIG HERO 6's Jamie Chung Wants To Play 'Psylocke' In A Future X-MEN Movie

Though not a stranger to comic book type movies, Jamie Chung wants to play an honest-to-goodness superhero, and who would suit the beautiful actress better than the psychic, blade-wielding mutant Betsy Braddock, aka Psylocke? In an interview with CBR, Chung discusses her role in Disney's Big Hero 6, but admits that playing an animated superhero just isn't doing it for her -- she wants to cape-up in live action! The Sucker Punch actress reveals that she's a big comic book fan, and collected many different titles as a youngster. When the idea of playing Psylocke is put to her, she plays it down as just "for fun", but it sounds like she'd be genuinely interested in the opportunity arose.

"X-Men" was my favorite Marvel property. It was Wolverine and Cyclops. I've always wanted to play a Jubilee or a Storm or a Jean Grey, the Phoenix series was amazing, and I was so intrigued with Mystique. But ultimately I thought the coolest character was Psylocke. I really wanted to be Psylocke.

And there's not really been a definitive film version of Psylocke.

No. Hopefully they'll bring her into something. But I think the fans -- I kind of put it out in the universe, and the fans, some are like, "Oh my God, that would be amazing." And the other fans are like, "No, that's so wrong casting. She needs to be British. She needs to be this and that!" And so I just put it out there for fun.

The character actually did appear in X-Men: The Last Stand and was played by Mei Melançon, but it was a tiny part and I'm not even sure she spoke a single line of dialogue. I can't imagine it'd be too big a deal to reboot Psylocke for another X-flick at some point. Do you think Chung would suit the role? Sound off below.
