Joseph Gordon-Levitt Updates On SANDMAN

There have been several failed attempts to adapt Neil Gaiman's incredible Sandman series into a live-action movie, but recently we learned that Warner Bros' are going to take another crack at it. Joseph-Gordon Levitt is on board as producer (with a possibility that he'll also star and direct), and seems very passionate about the source material and determined to do it justice on the big screen. In an interview with MovieFone, the TDKR actor doesn't confirm if he'll actually direct or not, but he does say that he went to his Sin City: A Dame To Kill For director Robert Rodriguez for advice on how to handle green screen. Levitt also reveals that they haven't got a full script just yet, but that they're getting there, and he feels the "right ideas" are in place.

"Right now we're working on a script. It's me and Goyer and the screenwriter [Jack Thorne] and Neil Gaiman, as well as the good folks at DC and Warner Bros. It's a really cool team of people. It's a lot of the same people who worked on the Nolan "Batman" movies. It's really exciting. There's not a script yet, we're still kind of working it out because it's such a complicated adaptation because "Sandman" wasn't written as novels. "Sin City" was written as a novel. "Sandman" is 75 episodic issues. There's a reason people have been trying and failing to adapt "Sandman" for the past 20 years."

Well, they have the blessing of Gaiman who seems very happy with the treatment so far, so that's a great start. More at the link below.
