In May, Saban Brands and Lionsgate officially announced their plans for a new Power Rangers feature film. The franchise began 20 years ago as a television series, Mighty Morphin Power Rangers . It was about the "adventures of a group of ordinary teens who “morph” into superheroes and save the world from evil."

Today, The Hollywood Reporter reported, X-Men: First Class ' screenwriters Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz have been hired to pen the script for the live-action Power Rangers reboot. Keep in mind, many screenwriters contributed to X-Men: First Class, like Jamie Moss, Josh Schwartz, Zak Penn, Sheldon Turner, Matthew Vaughn and Jane Goldman. And it was cobbled together from other X-Men film projects like the solo Magneto film. As for Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz, they have collaborated in the past on several projects, like Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles and Fringe .

This new Power Rangers film will also get a helping hand from Star Trek 3 director Roberto Orci, who was part of a writing team responsible for such film as: Star Trek , Star Trek Into Darkness , three Transformers films and The Amazing Spider-Man 2 . Orci will be an executive producer and help develop the story alongside Miller and Ashley.

The new movie promises to completely re-envision the Rangers, a group of high school kids who are infused with unique and cool super powers but must harness and use those powers as a team if they have any hope of saving the world.
