Disappointment, it is something that we've all experienced at some time from 20th Century Fox with their handling of the X-Men franchise. We have grown accustomed to getting our hopes up and then having them dashed. Earlier this year we felt that displeasure when it was revealed that True Blood actress Anna Paquin, who has played Rogue in several installments, was completely cut from X-Men: Days of Future Past. Yes, there is still a bit of hope for Paquin, as she might've been involved in additional reshoots, but that's not for certain. And today, New York Daily News reports that Halle Berry's ("Catwoman") screen time has been reduced to merely one scene in X-Men: Days of Future Past.
Meanwhile, on the work front, a source who was on the set of “X Men: Days of Future Past,” tells us Berry, who plays Storm, was cut out of every scene but one in post-production. - New York Daily News
When it was announced that X-Men: Days of Future Past would consist of actors from Bryan Singer's original X-Men timeline and the actors from X-Men: First Class many fans were eagerly anticipating Halle Berry's return to the series. She hadn't played Storm, a mutant that controls the weather, since Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand. The good news is that producers did bring her back into the fold, but the bad news was the film's shooting schedule conflicted with child that was growing inside her womb. She was pregnant with her second child with fiance Olivier Martinez. By time cameras started to roll Berry already has a prominent bump. In several interviews, she mentioned that her pregnancy did limit her involvement. Berry stated, "Storm probably won't be as badass as she was going to be because we won't be able to do any fighting or flying or things like that." A small role, yes, but she still believed her part was integral. Oscar-winning actress said, "There's something very revealing and shocking about Storm in this movie that I thought was needed." If New York Daily News is right, and Halle Berry's part has been diminished to just one scene, it seems safe to assume we'll never know what Storm's "shocking" revelation was.
The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The cast includes: Hugh Jackman, James McAvoy, Ian McKellen, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, Peter Dinklage, Nicholas Hoult, Ellen Page, Shawn Ashmore, Lucas Till, Evan Peters, Daniel Cudmore, Booboo Stewart, Omar Sy, Fan Bingbing, Evan Jonigkeit, Adan Canto and Josh Helman, X-Men: Days Of Future Past hits UK cinemas on May 22 and US cinemas the following day.
