What is an antihero? Well, by definition, it's a leading character is a work (movie, show, etc) who lacks the traditional qualities of a hero such as courage, idealism, nobility, selflessness, and mortal goodness.
So now that we know what an antihero is, we can begin. Without further ado...

Number 5: Lana Winters (American Horror Story: Asylum)
Portrayed by: Sarah Paulson
Created by: Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk
Medium: Television

Kicking off our list is tough as nails journalist Lana Winters. Portrayed by Sarah Paulson, Lana is an ambitious reporter willing to do whatever it takes to get her story.
I knew I wanted an American Horror Story character on this list. It was either Lana or Fiona Goode (portrayed by Jessica Lange) from season 3 (American Horror Story: Coven).
But what is it that makes Lana and antihero? Well for one thing, it is her ambition. She does whatever it takes to get her story. And towards the end of the season, she sells out. Everything she does is out of selfishness and ambition. After she escaped Briarcliff Manor, the only selfless thing she did was try to save Sister Jude during her Briarcliff expose. Everything else she did, while it had merits, it was done to further her career. She even changed the details of her story just so her book would sell more copies.
Number 4: Deadpool
Portrayed by: N/A
Created by: Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, Marvel Comics
Medium: Comics

Number for on the list is everyone's favorite merc with the mouth. Deadpool/ Wade Wilson. Deadpool original started out as a villain, but was later changed to a mercenary and antihero.
Deadpool is only number 4 on this list because I know (of all five) the least about him. I'm sure if I knew about more about him, he'd have a higher spot on the list. Deadpool's allegiances lie with himself and/or the highest bidder. His recklessness and disregard for others make give him number 4 on my list.
Number 3: Crytosporidium 137, 138, 139 (Destroy All Humans! franchise)
Portrayed by: Grant Albrecht (Destroy all Humans!, Destroy all Humans! 2, Destroy all Humans! Path of the Furon), Sean Donnellan (Destroy all Humans! Big Willy Unleashed)
Created by: Pandemic Studios
Medium: Video Game

The midway point on our list is the foul-mouthed, sex-crazed, destructive little alien. Crypto's goals vary from enslaving mankind, to harvesting human brains, to living wild.
Crypto gets number 3 on this list because of his appetite for destruction, and earth women. All the while, he's aiding his race further.
Number 2: Raymond Reddington (The Blacklist)
Portrayed by: James Spader
Created by: Jon Bokenkamp
Medium: TV

Number 2 on our top 5 is also the newest antihero to grace us. Within the narrative of the show, Raymond Reddington is a criminal on the FBI's most wanted list. One day, he turns himself in. He tells the FBI he has amassed a "Blacklist" of 100 of the most dangerous criminals, and that he'll only work with a Elizabeth Keen, a rookie agent who begins her first day as a criminal profiler (which happens to be the very same day Reddington turns himself in).
While helping the Keen and the FBI, Reddington has motives of his own. Is he using the Blacklist as an excuse to go unnoticed. Whatever the reasons, we never exactly know what they are.
And finally, the moment you've all been waiting for.
Number 1: Kratos (God of War Franchise)
Portrayed by: Terrence C. Carson
Created by: David Jaffe
Medium Video Game

Number 1, the top antihero, is the Ghost of Sparta himself. Kratos is a man on the mission. All his life, he's been jerked around by the gods. And now, he wants revenge. Kratos embarks on an epic quest to kills the gods of Olympus with complete disregard for the consequences. In God of War III Kratos succeeds in his task to bring down the gods.
With each god he kills, the earth suffers from another plague. This is why Kratos is number 1. His disregard for everything around him. He doesn't care that the earth is dying. He only cares about his mission.
