The official website for the Attack on Titan manga has revealed that a live-action movie based on Hajime Isayama's popular title is in development and is aiming for a 2015 release. Neon Genesis Evangelion storyboard artist Shinji Higuchi will direct the adaptation which will begin filming in 2014. Higuchi was also SFX director on a trio of Gamera films. Yuusuke Watanabe (Dragon Ball Z: Battle of Gods, Gantz) is writing the script. Casting for the film is currently underway. Previously, Tetsuya Nakashima was attached to direct a film that was originally slated for a 2013 release. Launched in 2009, Attack on Titan currently has 25 million copies in print. Attack on Titan was the second highest selling manga series of 2013, with 15,933,801 copies sold in a year. An 25-episode anime adaptation was launched this past April.
