Why There Are No Excuses For WB Not To Make A WONDER WOMAN Movie

Written By Unknown on Sunday, 24 November 2013 | 01:43

Time and time again we see countless arguments about how Marvel is better than DC or DC is better than Marvel. But there is one thing that no fan of each company can deny about who has the upper hand when it comes to strong female characters and in this department DC takes the cake for one simple reason, Wonder Woman.

Wonder Woman was created in 1941 and since then she has become a huge pop culture icon. She has become a symbol and a role model for female comic book readers everywhere and has joined the ranks of other a-list DC characters such as Superman and Batman and has become "one of the boys".

So why is it so hard for WB to make a live action movie about her? In this editorial I will try and debunk some of the excuses I have seen for the absence of the Amazonian Princess hitting the big screens.

Female Lead Superhero Movies Usually Flop.

Now this is the most popular argument and probably the most understandable. Yes female lead superhero films have flopped but that is usually due to those movies being really bad and maybe not specifically the gender of the lead character, who knows how those movies would of turned out if they were actually good.

I think the biggest thing people need to take out of this is that so many male lead movies have flopped before but nobody ever blames the characters gender for it, so why is it different for female lead movies? The Hunger Games films are a perfect example of a female lead movie that can be successful, A Wonder Woman movie can be successful as long as the quality of the film is good.

How Can You Make Greek Mythology Work In a Modern Day DCCU?

This is an argument I really don't understand, just take the Thor route and make the Olympians aliens who were worshipped as Gods. I think WB really should take a lot of inspiration for Thor and make this movie a fish out of water story, have her trying to adjust to the outside world and overcome her sexism towards men.

Also something I have realized, movies in recent years based off Greek Myths have made made a lot of money at the box-office such as Clash of the Titans and Percy Jackson, surely WB must see this as a goldmine.

Please comment below, I would love to hear peoples feedback and opinion on this. I don't know do I have a point or do I just sound crazy? You tell me.
