I recently made an article on why I believe that Marvel the Netflix shows should take place in the 70's. It was meet with mostly hate but some agreement. But I wanted to create and article expressing my ideas for the specific shows. So expect to see Luke Cage, Iron Fist, and Jessica Drew articles coming soon.
First Thoughts : When news broke about the shows everyone's interest was then focused to who would produce/write the show and who would play the main leads. I've decided to throw my hat into the ring with my picks.
Dave Patten who was recently seen in Vince Vaughn's 'The Delivery Man' is my pick for the man without fear. I chose him because he is young, spry, and looks like he could easily pack on muscle mass for the role. He is also very unknown and with this gig he would be a household name. And he also resembles Matt Murdock as well.
The Daredevil I would have in the show would be one that fits perfectly into the 70's. I want a Daredevil that will shove his billy club down your throat so you spill some info on the D.A. Thats what this show has to be. It has to be gritty and dark. Imagine scene of Daredevil moving from high rise to high rise beating the snot out of crooks as they roam NYC for their own wrong doing.
Second Thoughts : I want producers that will achieve making the show gritty. That is not something you can easily accomplish. Thats why I chose Mark Johnson and the producer from American Gangster Brian Grazer. Brian Grazer handled that project so well that the film has garnished my top 5 list of all time favorite films. I picked Mark Johnson because he knows how to give characters development and handle them properly.
Third Thoughts and Closing : Another thing I want this show to incapsulate are villains that will make your skin crawl. Villains that will make you stay up at night. One villain that comes to mind is 'Owl'. One of Daredevil's most horrific and gruesome villains, he fits well into the show. I want Owl to be the main villain of the show. I want his story-line to be an interesting one as well. He could have been hired by a crime boss to take out Daredevil. I'd have him Set-up as a russian assassin. I'd want him to be cocky and scary at the same time.
I picked Ron Eldard from 'Super-8' simply because he played the role of a drunk abusive father. Every scene he was in he made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. He, like Dave Patten, resembles his character well. He looks like Owl and I know he can do him justice.
I was thinking of a scene were Daredevil has tracked some crooks to the rundown factory were they plan on making a deal with some other crooks from a rival gang. All of a sudden Daredevil breaks in through a window and busts them all up. But out of nowhere Owl appears. He hits Daredevil with a right hook. Daredevil then wakes up tied to a wicker chair in a run down old basement of someones apartment with Owl torturing him. That is just one idea I have for how they could introduce this character.
That will end this installment of Why?, as always like and comment below and look out for my next article on Luke Cage.
