BOX OFFICE: THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE Opens In Brazil 3x Bigger Than The First

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire has opened in South America a week early, kicking off its run at the international box office with an impressive $2.4 million. That may not sound like an awful lot, but it's triple the gross of the first film! It's no wonder then that analysts are predicting a debut in North America of over $165 million. With less than a week to go until it opens across the rest of the world, the sequel is set to easily take the top spot from Thor: The Dark World. THE HUNGER GAMES: CATCHING FIRE begins as Katniss Everdeen has returned home safe after winning the 74th Annual Hunger Games along with fellow tribute Peeta Mellark. Winning means that they must turn around and leave their family and close friends, embarking on a “Victor’s Tour” of the districts. Along the way Katniss senses that a rebellion is simmering, but the Capitol is still very much in control as President Snow prepares the 75th Annual Hunger Games (The Quarter Quell) – a competition that could change Panem forever.
