THOR: THE DARK WORLD Set To Be China's Final Foreign Release Of 2013

With only 34 films slotted in for 2013, Thor: The Dark World has managed to nab the final spot, beating the likes of Ender's Game and The Hunger Games: Catching Fire (they will now have to wait until next year). According to The Wrap, "The Walt Disney Studio is believed to have secured the last available 2013 berth for "Thor: The Dark World," though a release date has not yet been finalized, according to an individual with knowledge of the situation. Disney had been pushing aggressively to get the superhero sequel into Chinese theaters this calendar year, and it looks like its efforts have paid off." It's still possible that the movies mentioned above (among others) could still secure a release before the New Year, but this is still a big win for the Alan Taylor helmed sequel. The People's Republic maintains a strict quota on the number of foreign films it allows each year, but the release of this movie in 3D and IMAX there should mean a big boost to its worldwide box office total.
