Made for only $17 million, Evil Dead became a hit when it went on to gross over $97 million worldwide earlier this year. However, despite the success of the movie, it now appears as if neither writer Rodo Sayagues or director Fede Alvarez will return for a sequel. Talking to Desde Hollywood recently, the former revealed that they both left the project a number of months ago. "Look, I am sorry to tell you this but that movie won’t happen. Evil Dead 2 is not going to happen, at least not with us involved. We left that project many months ago because we preferred to put our energies on other things. I don’t know if the producers still have intentions of making it. But what I can tell you is that we are not part of that project." However, they will be working on four other projects together moving forward (including Dante's Inferno for Universal), but there was no mention of Doctor Strange, a movie which Alvarez denied any involvement with in our exclusive interview with him back in April.
