A zom­bie apoc­a­lypse is an hypo­thet­i­cal sit­u­a­tion of apoc­a­lyp­tic the­ory based on sci­ence fic­tion or hor­ror. The zom­bie apoc­a­lypse is based on the premise that there will be the wide­spread rise of zom­bies that are hos­tile to human life and who engage in acts of anar­chy against human civ­i­liza­tion. The day that the apoc­a­lypse is allegedly sup­posed to begin has acquired the term Z-day.
