Alternate FANTASTIC FOUR: RISE OF THE SILVER SURFER Scenes

As I was saying, storyboard artist Darrin Denlinger supplied Film Sketchr with some great Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer storyboards of unused scenes, and today Darrin sent over storyboards of scenes that appeared in the film, but were tweaked from his original drawings. In most cases, budget concerns forced the more spectacular elements to get the axe. Boo!

The set of images are of the first wedding scene. In the theatrical version Silver Surfer's presence is detected and all hell breaks loose, such as a helicopter crashing on the top of the Baxter Building - where the wedding is taking place. Sue uses her super-powers to stop the copter from harming her and her guests, then The Thing rips the tails off the copter to stop the blades from harming his Scandalously-blind girlfriend.

In the storyboards below, this scene is a bit different as military soldiers/snipers are shown protecting the event, and then Silver Surfer actually shows up, not just his presence. He causes the soldiers/snipers to fall from buildings nearby and Reed has to stretch out like a trampoline to catch them. Then Reed has to become a parachute to catch a falling helicopter. Instead of a helicopter barrelling toward Sue and her guests, she is actually attacked by the Silver Surfer and uses her powers to protect her and her guests. That's a pretty big difference. Next image includes a small addition to the Silver Surfer/Johnny Storm (Human Torch) chase sequence which happens right after the wedding scene. No real big changes here.

The fourth image below, is of the London Eye scene. A slight tweak here. Ben/The Thing in the theatrical version actually picks up the ferris wheel during this rescue scene, but in the storyboards he uses Reed's flexible body.

The final set of images is of the scene in which Sue and Reed have an argument and Sue uses her powers on Reed. This plays out a lot like the theatrical version, which you can see in the video below, but it would've included more sight gags - more visual effects.
