The opening scene from the Gotham pilot, which aired the other night on Fox, featured Bruce Wayne getting a front row seat to the murder of his parents, Martha and Dr. Thomas Wayne. Their deaths traumatized young Bruce Wayne, but it also gave birth to Batman.
