'Captain America' Opens Massively with $10.2

As I've said before, it'd really only be news if a Marvel movie didn't make a big splash at the BO, but they've outdone themselves this time. At the risk of starting a Marvel/DC flame war, Captain America: The Winter Soldier has beat Man Of Steel's $9M Thursday night takings last night with a very impressive $10.2 million. This puts the Marvel sequel on track to scoring the top April opening of all time -- with a possibility that it may even approach $100 million. It also beat the last Marvel flick, Thor: The Dark World, which took in $7.1 million in Thursday night grosses, as well as the likes of The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug ($8.8M) and Divergent ($4.9M). Does this mean Captain America 3 could be considered a real threat to Warner Bros. Man Of Steel sequel? You'd have to think so!
