Sitting Down With Pasto: How DC Should Handle A New GREEN LANTERN film

Written By Unknown on Monday, 27 January 2014 | 11:13

In 2010, we heard news of a Green Lantern film. So MANY of us were excited for it. We had faith and hope that it would be one of the greatest films ever. But, we were wrong. I remember reading an interview that someone had with the director. He was saying how when he edited the dilm he had a meter that would tell him if something was cheesy or not. Well, I guess the meter was broken cause the entire film was a mess of fake plastic nacho cheese. So now, I get to throw my hat in the ring. I get to give some of MY ideas (Particularly two), on how they should handle the film. Now.....prepare your mind.

The Story-line

I recently re-read the famous Green Lantern story 'Secret Origin'. It is easily one of the my best and classic editions to the story of one, Hal Jordan. In the story, it basically give's you the rundown oh how Hal received the ring, and, it intro's not only the LEADER of 'The Red Lanterns' Atrocitus, but one Doctor Hector Hammond. So for the Green Lantern film I think they should do, the just need to use this story-line. Introduce The Red King, introduce The Big Head, introduce all these characters that they can use in the future. If they do this, they can expand the DC universe seven-fold. It can be larger and more exuberant.

The Director

For this film, I want a director that has handled a war based piece of cinema. Because when you think about it, The Green Lantern Corp handles itself like the Marines or the Navy. So I want the film to almost be handled in the manner to that of 'Saving Private Ryan' with a mixture of horror and comedy (Because Hal is a wise-crack). I want it to be gritty and dramatic as well. After all, the DCCU has been set-up as a darker more gritty universe in comparison to the Marvel Universe (Not that I'm throwing a jab at Marvel). So the director I personally think could handle this project, is Steven Allan Spielberg. *Gasp* Did I pick him? Yes...yes I did, and here's why. These are just a few of the films he has ever directed:

Close Encounters of The Third kind

1941

Saving Private Ryan

War of The Worlds

Those films are perfect. He can handle comedy, drama, sci-fi, action and horror. He is perfect for directing a film about a man given a green ring and tasked with fighting horrific looking aliens, and he can add a touch of comedy. Spielberg can embody all of that and more.

So those are just a few of my ideas for the film. As always, sound of in the usual spot below.
