Talking at Variety's Dealmakers Breakfast at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills earlier today, Alan Horn, chairman of the Walt Disney Studios, offered an update on the recent acquisition of Indiana Jones from Paramount. "We haven’t done anything," he revealed. "We don’t have a story. We need a story." He then went on to say that there are least two to three years until that movie will be released, adding that "It didn’t make sense to produce the movie at Disney and then have it be distributed and marketed by Paramount." Horn later reiterated that the plan is still in place to release a Star Wars movie every year, saying that Disney are expecting the Star Wars Episode VII script in January and that they believe that it will cost somewhere around $200 million. "We are proceeding as the folks who own the company, but he’s George Lucas and I’m sure we’ll be in conversations with him," as more movies in the franchise are developed he said of Lucas' role as consultant. As for Horn's plans for Marvel Studios? "These guys have earned the rights to follow their creative vision. I plan to bring them coffee," he joked.
